Acrylic On Cedar

This collection of four cedar plaques are just a sample of a number of plaques I did five years ago for a friend of mine. They were target at the cottage owner, a rustic type of painting. Hence the rough cedar substrate.

Snap Grackle & Pop

I thought that it was a blackbird had landed on my birdbath this morning but when I actually looked it turned out that it was a Grackle that had come for a morning drink. Different looking bird but beautiful none the less.

Survival

The Hawk with his "catch"; to be safe from predators to share...the other is a Coyote looking to catch. The two oil paintings are done by my brother, Phil.

Wildlife

The top painting is Canada's Loon, which you'll find on our one dollar coin.And the other is the majestic elephant; these oil paintings were executed by my brother, Phil.

"Little Church In The Wild Wood'

My friend Dennis and I (the fella with the '97 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM convertible ) spotted this "little church in the wild wood" on our way to Delburne.

Pink Tree

Took this picture today May 23, 2013 ; I don't know the name of this pretty tree...However, the blossoms only last three to four weeks

Cronus

Cronus is 2 years old now, he is a Rhodesian ridge back pit bull cross. He's a real goofy dog, I call him big dumb dumb because he underestimates his size and often whacks into walls with his head or tail. Cronus has his smarter times too, he's a good listener and can sit, shake a paw or high five. He's a real lovable dog and will do anything for your attention. He's always got to be where the people are and almost never leaves my side when I'm at home, hes a best friend for sure! Just over a year ago is when I met this pup. Jesse found him living in an alley thin and dirty. So, he brought Cronus home to me and I fell in love right away, I couldn't ask for a better dog.

Delburne

My friend Dennis and I went "cruising"  to Delburne, Alberta last spring and came upon this pretty little museum there. So I just had to take a picture of it, this is quaint small community and just a few miles from Red Deer,Ab.

Self Portrait

Oh ya that's me, Rick Soehn back in the days...did a 'stint' in the navy in hopes of starting an Art career , always wanted to put signage on ships,planes, whatever.However that did not work out; the portrait on the left was done with different grades of pencils.By the way that Naval Base HMCS Cornwallis was unified February 1968 of the RCN Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Army to form  the Canadian Forces, CFB Cornwallis.

Captured these early morning sunrise cloud formations just this morning at 6:a.m.....some more of Alberta beautiful sky.

Art Design

Art design was part of one of my courses, which by the way I thoroughly enjoyed .The abstract is water color as well as the signage;this was hand lettered.

these cloud formations today, May 15,2013, Red Deer sky's are constantly filled with these kinds of clouds. All one has to do is keep your eye on the sky, and your camera on the ready!

I found, another van that I lettered when I was in their employment. Definitely enjoyed working in television! It's good to know "old school" so one can appreciate all of the new technology that is out there.

70's Fashions

Here you have Artwork from one of my courses; an elective in fashion design. Bach in the 70's hats were the "in thing", which I thought were very stylish, and feminine looking. I loved them!

Alberta Sky

 We are blessed with the most beautiful evening sky.This of course is in Red Deer, Alberta. It makes up for the prolonged winter we had this year,2013.My camera is always on the ready....

Discrimination

                                                         You know me digging into the archives again,and  I came up with this painting on Discrimination.A catholic priest commissioned me to do this for his office.Needless to say, he was very pleased with it, and a pleasure doing it for him. 

Drift-wood Carving

        This drift-wood carving was done by my brother Peter, who at the time was employed with CHAT-TV in Medicine Hat, Alberta.It was an ideal piece of wood shaped for this project.

Learning Towers

                                These are for children to work with mom at the counter top level, and they are sturdy  and most importantly SAFE! Of course my brother August of Medicine Hat, Alberta built these beautiful pieces of furniture using his recently acquired band saw . Also, they are totally adjustable, depending on the height of the child.

Just A Snack

"Later" this evening May 3,2013 ...My resident rabbit showed up for an evening snack. O f course he is eating the bird seed that the sparrows kick to the lawn below. I believe it was about 7:30 p.m.

Ominous Clouds

I saw these ominous looking clouds in the eastern sky from my kitchen window. It was around 7:30 p.m., however, nothing materialized from it.They slowly dissipated and, and no rain that evening! I thought it was a nice picture to share with you.

ROCCO

My name is ROCCO,and I will be 4 yrs old in July, I LOVE walks,sniffing,playing fetch and enjoys swimming.As for food,my mom and dad feed me raw salmon for meals and for treats, celery sticks and apples and on  rare occasions, my mom gives me an organic baked cookie mmmm so yummy!, I LOVE my life!

Arrives For Supper

                       He arrived in the evening of April 28,2013 on my front lawn for supper. After a great feed of bird seed that the sparrows knocked to the grass below (they are such messy eaters ), this rabbit wanted dessert.There was an apple to right of the bird feeders,and that is what he nibbled on.

CKRD Television Live Children's Show

This is a television set I designed and painted for a children' s half hour live show that aired five days a week on CKRD television Red Deer, Alberta.Another archive picture that I came across, and wanted to share with you. The show had a nautical theme. The benches you see is where the children sat.

Monarch Arrives

This butterfly probably came all the way from Mexico and landed on my front lawn today April 24, 2013 in Red Deer, Alberta Canada. The partially eaten apple is for the other animals, rabbits, Magpie, deer and so on. It appears to be a Monarch, mean while I'll check my butterfly records  of this beautiful creature...

Henry's Majestic Elk

This majestic elk is my brother Henry's favorite sculpture  He loved the out doors, and enjoyed hunting as well. Not to mention his wonderful Artistic talent! Five of my brothers were that way.

CKRD Radio and TV

After digging into my archives I found these two pictures....

The two billboards you see here are 8 x 20 ft. in size and were located south on Gaetz Avenue in Red Deer, Alberta.I painted  these in 1979.This radio and TV stations are no longer are around.                                                                                                                

Buttons

This is an oil painting I did for my sister-in-law of her five and a half pound little dog. He was small enough that she could take him on her carry on when flying. This of course was painted in the year 2000.This sister-in-law is my brother Henry's wife, Joyce.
